Since its very beginning, Humanitas – Centre for Global Learning and Cooperation (https://www.humanitas.si/homepage) has been collaborating with teachers and other educators in various ways. Over the past ten years, our partnership with the education sector has grown even stronger, and we recognized both the need and the opportunity to create an informal space where teachers interested in Global education could regularly meet and exchange experiences and ideas. This led us to establish a very special initiative—the Global Education Teachers’ Club!
The club was founded in January 2018 in Slovenia, and today, it has almost 100 members – teachers from different parts of the country. The significance of the Global Education Teachers’ Club was also recognized by the Global Education Network Europe (GENE), which awarded it as one of the most innovative initiatives in the field of Global education in Europe. This recognition was of great importance for Humanitas and helped us to raise awareness of Global education in Slovenia.
Committed to sharing our experiences with other NGOs, we applied for an Erasmus+ project that allowed us to expand the concept of the club to three European countries. In collaboration with Arpok, Anthropolis, and Mondo, the Global Education Teachers’ Clubs have been successfully launched in the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Estonia since 2023. Through this initiative, more and more teachers are enhancing their competencies in Global education and inspiring young people to become active global citizens.
We are delighted to present one of the key outcomes of the ‘Club of Global Education Teachers’ project – a new educational toolkit entitled ‘Global Perspectives: A Collection of Global Education Activities for Teachers’. The toolkit was prepared in cooperation with our partner organisations Mondo, Anthropolis and Arpok. We invite you to read and use the handbook in your work with students!
